Dry Leaves - Dry Soul?

I was taking a walk the other day when suddenly I was arrested, not by the police, but by this sound coming from this tree.   It was a haunting sound.  Listen to the video again to see if you hear it.  The hard, dry crackling sound of the leaves and branches striking one another was strange.  For lack of a better description, it made me think of life trying to resuscitate something that is dying.

In Psalms 118:17, King David declares that he will not die while he lives.  That is the primary message we want you to get from this website.  Don’t die while you STILL have LIFE.  The choice was made very clear in Deuteronomy 30:1 to choose life.  Unfortunately, due to life circumstances, we have forgotten that we actually have a choice.

Let me give you a little background on what was going on with David when he made this declaration noted in Psalms 118. (Oh boy, a quick Bible lesson :-) )  The Tehillim (Jewish commentary on the Book of Psalms) tells us that these verses express David’s relief at the death of King Saul, who had pursued him relentlessly.  Now, let’s focus on the commentary related to verse 17, it notes that the wicked are considered dead even while they are alive, because their souls are cut off from God, the source of all life.  David says, “I shall be counted among the righteous who are considered alive even after death.  Certainly, I will not be considered dead even while I live!  “No, I will survive the murder attempts of my enemies and live to brag about the goodness of God.”

Now, that’s the kind of conviction we should have in our lives no matter what is going on.  Take an inspection of your life right now.  What is trying to blow death in you while you are still alive, sickness, financial issues, mind issues, relationship issues?  Trust the LORD, lean on Him, declare the good He has done in your life, today.  Make His Word the final authority in your life and declare:  “I shall not die WHILE I live and I will declare the goodness of the LORD”.

Peace!

Once upon a time, when I was homeless, hungry, wet, angry, and disappointed - thought of stealing an big red juice apple off of a fruit car,t while the attendant was helping other customers to the delicious delicacies dressing his cart. He had not a clue as to the disparate soul scheming to procure his produce. Dry leaves - Dry Soul? I do not know; but, a still small voice: "Do not take the forbidden fruit; this path avoid at all cost. To walk down this road, will provide no vigor." By not stealing at my lowest point, promised a continued stable increase in all of my doings.
